Social identity is a term from social psychology research and is based on the Social Identity Theory developed by Henri Tajfel. Social Identity Theory remains influential in social psychology and helps explain the role of identity in shaping human behaviors and intergroup relations. It underscores the importance of recognizing the social and psychological dimensions of identity in understanding human interactions.
